Cookies - Martini Party

My friend's husband was throwing her an awesome 30th birthday party. He asked that I make a few dozen martini cookies and wrap them and tie with ribbons for take aways for the guests. I was happy to make these bright, pretty martini cookies for my friend's party!

Her colors were Hot Pink, Bright Orange and Lime Green. The green ones have "pearl onions" in frosted, edible glitter. The orange have green olives. The pink ones were Cosmos (of course!)They looked so festive and cute!

Cookies - Party Like a Rock Star

A friend I know is an event planner. She asked that I create a topper for a hot pink birthday cake. It was to be two electric guitar cookies. Also included in the order were 4 dozen additional cookies, hand painted, hot pink, electric guitars to be individually wrapped and tied with hot pink ribbon. This was a fun project. I got to work with a new medium for me. It's the first time I used edible, metallic color dust.

I used the silver dust, mixed with Everclear (you can also use vanilla or clear rum or vodka) and hand painted the guitar strings and other details of the electric guitar on black icing.

For the pink guitars, I just used white icing for the details and little silver balls for the guitar, tuning knobs. Party-Like-A-Rock-Star cookies!

Decorative Furniture

I've painted some odds and ends, pieces of furniture over the years. Here's a table that I painted a few years ago. I enjoy the whimsical look of it.

Dinosaur Nursery - MURAL

I'm very lucky that I get to become friends with the people who commission my murals!

Some of my new and very good friends (because I think they are just the nicest, most sincere people I've met in a very long time) asked me to paint the nursery of their first child who is on his way to meet all of us sometime before Christmas this year!

I was thrilled to be able to paint the dinosaur-themed nursery for little A J and I am certain he will be very happy in his wonderful room.

Dad had some specific requests and I was pleased that I met them to his approval. = D

Here's the checklist:

1) Dino reading "Danny and the Dinosaur", wearing spectacles

2) Palm tree in corner of room

3) Volcano in other corner of room

4) Dino riding bike/trike wearing Astros cap

5) Mother with Son dinos

6) Pterodactyl - made this the little boy's kite

7) Hatching eggs - dinos - specifically Triceratops (they are peace-lovin' dinos!)

The mural is floor to ceiling and wraps around the perimeter of the entire room. I think it will be a great space for a little boy. He should be able to enjoy it as is for several years!

STMER - Xray Screen - Snow Leopards

Dr. O. found a X-ray screen at an office of a chiropractor who was retiring.

He asked that I paint the screen with Snow Leopards and it is now being used at the clinic in the X-ray/Catscan Lab for parents to stand behind while their children are having xrays.

It turned out to be a great idea for safety and an awesome way to brighten up a room that can look sterile and intimidating to youngsters. Brilliant, Dr. O!

If you happen to be at St Michael's Emergency Center, the Sugar Land location - be sure to check out the murals and the x-ray screen! http://www.24hrer.com/

Cookies - Deer, Lone Star Flags, Black-Eyed Susans

I was asked by one of my good friends to bake some special deer-shaped cookies for her husband's birthday. He and his father-in-law bought a ranch near Del Rio and they've begun to build and develop the land. Of course, hunting, four-wheeling, and just plain ole' nature lovin' are at the top of their agenda when they go to the ranch.

These cookies were baked for my friends and their family with good wishes for his birthday and for the whole year!

Cookies - OSU, Softballs

A very good family friend recently had her signing party for her OSU Softball Scholarship!!

We're SO, SO excited and proud for her and her family because they are a wonderful family and she's worked very hard for many years. She requested the OSU and Softball cookies for her party and they were baked in her honor.

Cookies - Halloween, Fall

I recently participated in a bake-off contest at the office where I work. Here are the cookies that won me a gift-card from the judges.
You can order cookies from me. I can customize them for any event and they are really delicious! If you'd like, I can also wrap individually and tie with ribbon to match your color scheme.

Sophie's Nursery

I have some friends who have a beautiful, happy baby girl named Sophie. I was lucky enough to be asked to paint her nursery.
Sophie's parents had painted the room with the rail painted white going around the perimeter of the room. This divided the top portion of the walls which are painted a light green and the lower portion, painted a bit darker green. It's a pretty effect as you can see in the pictures.
They had seen the monkeys I painted at St Michael's http://www.24hrer.com/ in Sugar Land and thought they'd be cute in Sophie's nursery. I agree!

The mural is along two walls. The giraffe looks over the changing table and the tail swoops onto the closet door. The tree that the monkeys hang from goes up onto the ceiling. A branch of the ceiling also "hangs" over a window where the rocking chair sits. There are a lot of details that are hard to capture in these few photos. The elephant's trunk is up for luck and waving "hello!" to all who enter the nursery. There are butterflies, flowers and ferns all along the bottom portion of the wall. This makes the room have a fun, lighthearted effect.
